15 years with GLiMT

2017 was GLiMT’s 15 year anniversary. Through the year, we’ve premiered three performances, re-premiered a fourth and toured a fifth. All told we’ve performed 78 times on tour and at home in Tårnby – and 5279 people have seen a GLiMT show during the course of the year.

In addition to that, we’ve taught workshops, have taught an elective course in contemporary circus in collaboration with Tårnby Youth School, and have begun a brand new teaching project called “Viden i Kroppen” (Knowledge in the Body).

It’s been busy and exciting – and we absolutely can’t wait to continue the work in 2018!

GLiMT was founded in 2002 by Lars Lindegaard Gregersen and Camila Sarrazin. In the beginning, it was called “Teatro GLiMT”, and the company was based in Spain, where Lars and Camila primarily created street performances with contemporary circus, which toured all through the summer.

In 2006, Teatro GLiMT moved to Denmark, and begun to focus more on black box and site specific performances. The name also changed to the current – GLiMT. This resulted in shows like “Sisyphus Ascending” and “Empty Steps”, both of which are still actively touring.

In 2014, GLiMT moved to Tårnby, and during the last couple of years we’ve focused our various projects here – even though we continue to tour both in Denmark and internationally. Among other projects, we created the performance “Underwood”here, which was performed over 2 summers in Pinseskoven in Kalvebod Fælled, to the great pleasure of children, youths and adults. The performance was extremely well received by the press, and awarded a special award by the Danish Arts Foundation.

Through the years, we’ve created 17 large and small performances, ranging as wide a site specific performances in the woods, through intimate theatre installations to both larger and smaller black box performances.

Alongside, we’ve also carried out several teaching projects, such as Valby Sommercirkus in 2011 and ScenEx in 2016, taught workshops, created events and special performances, and much more.
