Creating a performance with Østerbro Lilleskole

Beginning of a 2 months workshop for the pupils of Østerbro Lilleskole.

60 children from 8 to 12 years old of the primary school Østerbro Lilleskole will create a site-specific performance around the theme “Colonization”, guided and directed by artists from GLiMT. They will be introduced to circus and physical theatre disciplines by 3 professional performers, with whom they will also get to learn the basis of creation process.

Supported by The Danish Arts Foundation’s House Artist Scheme – Statens Kunstråds Huskunstnerordning, this educational project will start off with workshops every Tuesday from the 23rdof April until the end of June, where the children will discover a large variety of circus and dance disciplines such as acrobatics, acting, choreography and partnering, as well as how to express a theme with their body in front of others.

Finally in two intense working weeks, they will create their own site specific performance, which will be presented by the end of June.

This project is created in collaboration between GLiMT and the schoolteachers from the school. The children will be discussing the topic of the performance during their regular classes, but also incorporate all their regular creative classes like music creation, building props, scenography and costumes during the creation process.

Josephine Wulff Randrup will teach and direct the performance and Esther Wrobel and Lars Lindegaard Gregersen will be teaching and assisting during the project. Camila Sarrazin will be assisting the creation of scenography and costumes.
